My start to motherhood was, well — a doozy…

Babywearing is the number one tool I wish I could go back & gift to the brand new mother in the photo here.

I wasn’t always confident babywearing. With my first baby, we struggled & we struggled hard. The carriers I’d been gifted felt confusing, uncomfortable & overwhelming. My baby screamed after I put her in a carrier for our entire walk around the block the first time we tried it & just didn’t seem to like it. I quickly gave up, convinced it was one more thing I failed at as a new mother. What I didn’t realize then was that babywearing is a skill — one many of us were never shown or supported in learning alongside of our mothers, grandmothers, aunts, sisters & friends.

Looking back, I truly believe that if I’d had someone to guide me — to help me choose the right carrier & teach me how to use it — those exhausting, anxious early postpartum weeks would have looked and felt very different for both of us.

That’s why I do this work — to offer the support I wish I had. Not to make this about me, because it’s so very much about YOU but every time I see a mother quietly exhale, soften her shoulders & nestle her baby close with new-found confidence, a part of my first-time-mom self — the one who wept because I couldn’t calm my own baby — finds a bit of healing.

As a Certified Babywearing Educator, Infant Physical Therapist & Mother of three, my unique perspective blends professional training, clinical expertise in infant development and hands-on lived experience to help you babywear safely, comfortably & confidently. My Babywearing Consultations & Workshops are non-judgmental, inclusive, personalized, practical and grounded in evidence — because every parent deserves to feel capable, connected & supported.

More about my training…

In 2024, I completed the online, self-paced Newborn Babywearing Support Training by CBWS to better integrate expert-level newborn babywearing support into my practice & meet the unique needs of families in those early weeks. This introduction into how powerful Babywearing could be from a therapeutic standpoint for my clients in combination with the birth of my third baby created a deep desire to learn more.

So in April 2025, I completed the Center for Babywearing Studies Foundations Course, a 40+ hour, 8-week program that combined self-paced study with live instruction. Through this training, I gained experience with all major carrier types, a deeper understanding of babywearing safety & physiology along with guided practice in teaching skills to support caregiver comfort & confidence.

This means when we work together, you’ll get:

  • Guidance tailored to your baby’s stage & your body

  • Support that’s evidence-based, inclusive and judgment-free

  • Confidence to use your carrier safely & comfortably

What is a Carrier Learning Library?

One of the biggest challenges in babywearing is figuring out which carrier is right for you & your baby. With so many options out there (wraps, slings, buckles, meh dais, hybrids), it can feel overwhelming to know where to start.

That’s where a Carrier Learning Library comes in.

The Learning Library is a collection of baby/toddler/preschool carriers available for you to try on, practice with & compare during private consultations, workshops & community events.
It includes a variety of styles & brands (thoughtfully curated with ethical & sustainability practices and a variety of budgets in mind) — so you can see what feels best for your body & your baby. Carriers are like jeans & what feels great for one person won't feel quite right for someone else.

Using the library gives you the chance to learn how to use different carriers comfortably & safely before making an investment in your own.

Every try-on session is guided by me, a certified babywearing educator & infant PT, so you’ll get evidence-based, personalized support (no guesswork, no stress).

Why parents love it:

  • Saves time & money

  • Builds confidence before purchasing

  • Ensures proper fit & safe positioning

  • Gives you hands-on learning with real carriers

Whether you’re brand new to babywearing or just curious about trying something new, the Learning Library is here to support your journey.

Why should I invest my time & money into Babywearing?

Babywearing isn't just convenient — it’s a powerful way to bond with your little one, soothe fussiness & keep your hands free while nurturing your baby.

Everything about how your baby is uniquely & beautifully designed shows us they are meant to be held and carried. It’s part of our species' evolutionary design for survival, comfort & development.

We’re “Carry Mammals”
Like other primates, human babies are born immature & dependent. They instinctively mold to a caregiver’s body, grasp, & seek closeness — signs of being a physiological “carrier species.”

The Moro Reflex
Newborns have a built-in reflex to cling when they feel a sudden drop — a survival adaptation to help stay close to a caregiver.

Flexed Posture & Curved Spine
Babies are born in a curled-up "C" shape, perfect for nestling against a parent’s chest or hip. Over time, being worn upright supports the natural development of your baby’s spinal curves & head control.

Calm When Carried Response
Research shows that babies experience a measurable decrease in heart rate, movement & crying when being carried — not just held.
(Esposito et al., 2013 — “Calmness when carried” study)

Fourth Trimester Needs
During the first 3 months of life, babies crave womb-like conditions: warmth, motion, sound & security. Babywearing meets these needs through gentle movement, heartbeat rhythm & closeness.

Regulates Body Systems
Being worn helps stabilize baby’s heart rate, temperature & breathing which is especially important for newborns adjusting to life outside the womb.

Carrying isn’t just convenient — it’s how babies are meant to thrive. Their bodies & brains expect to be close to you & using a baby carrier beautifully meets that biological expectation.

Benefits of Babywearing

What the research shows —

  • Supports Secure Attachment
Increases closeness & connection. Babies who are worn tend to develop more secure attachments with caregivers.
    (Anisfeld et al., 1990)

  • Reduces Crying
Babies carried for ~3 hours a day cry up to 43% less overall and 51% less in the evening.
    (Hunziker & Barr, Pediatrics, 1986)

  • Encourages Development of Movement Skills
Engages baby’s core & postural muscles; supports motor development & balance. Upright positioning helps relieve reflux.

  • Promotes Communication & Social Skills
Babies worn close to caregivers are more exposed to language, eye contact & social interaction — supporting early learning.

  • Improves Sleep
Gentle motion & close contact help babies fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer.

  • Builds Caregiver Confidence
Babywearing makes it easier to respond to baby’s cues, which increases caregiver confidence & reduces stress.

  • Supports Mental Health
Linked to lower rates of postpartum depression, increased oxytocin levels & reduced caregiver overwhelm.
    (Schoppmann et al., CBWS)

  • Protects Hip Joint & Skull Development
Proper carrier positioning supports healthy hip joint development (using the “M” or “spread-squat” position) & reduces the risk of “flat head syndrome”.
